Edison Technologies is a well-established company in the field of waste processing. What is waste management? Waste management or waste disposal are all the activities, required to manage waste from its inception to its final disposal. This includes amongst other things: collection, transport, sorting, treatment and disposal of waste together with monitoring and regulation. We, Edison Technologies can accompany you at all stages of your project, as a reliable and experienced partner.
Waste can take any form that is solid, liquid, or gas and each have different methods of disposal and management. Waste management usually deals with all types of waste whether it was created in forms that are industrial, biological, household, and special cases where it may pose a threat to human health.
Waste management practices are not uniform among countries, regions, and sectors. The regions divided into urban and rural areas, and the sectors is divided into residential and industrial. The bigest portion of waste management practices deal with municipal solid waste (MSW) which is the bulk of the waste that is created by household, industrial, and commercial activity.
Generally, waste can be in any condition, could be liquid type or solid waste. Any of them could be hazardous or dangerous. Liquid and solid waste types can also be grouped into organic, re-usable and recyclable waste. Below we would like to provide you with brief descriptions and difference between wastes:
Waste can come in non-solid form. Some solid waste can also be converted to a liquid waste form for disposal. Examples of liquid waste include wash water from homes, liquids used for cleaning in industries and waste detergents.
Solid waste mainly, is any sort of garbage, refuse or rubbish that we make in our homes (residential) and other places (industrial). These include old car tires, old newspapers, broken furniture and even food waste, everything that is non-liquid.
Organic waste comes from plants or animals sources. Commonly, they include food waste, fruit and vegetable peels, flower trimmings and even dog poop can be classified as organic waste. They are biodegradable (this means they are easily broken down by other organisms over time and turned into manure).
Waste management is a complex process that covers many different activities. Each of these activities should be addressed with care and diligence in order to prevent any adverse effects on the environment and achieve a more effective and sustainable use of all resources. Waste disposal is one of the essential stages in waste management, there are many methods and from of waste disposal, and Edison Technologies can help you, providing effective solutions.
WASTE SORTING:
Waste sorting is the process by which waste is separated into different elements, usually based on its nature. Waste sorting can occur manually at the household, or automatically separated in materials recovery facilities or mechanical biological treatment systems. Hand sorting was the first method used in the history of waste sorting. The chosen method of sorting will depend on many factors such as the nature of the waste, the ease of segregation and the yield and quality of the resultant recyclates. Edison Technologies can developed high-end sorting facilities for you to minimized manual labor and improve performance.
DISPOSAL METHODS:
LANDFILL
A landfill site (also known as a tip, dump, rubbish dump) is a site for the disposal of waste materials by burial. It is the oldest form of waste treatment. Some landfills are also used for waste management purposes, such as the temporary storage, consolidation and transfer, or processing of waste material. Typically, operators of well-run landfills for non-hazardous waste meet predefined specifications by applying techniques to:
- confine waste to as small an area as possible
- compact waste to reduce volume
- cover waste with layers of soil or other types of material such as woodchips and fine particles
INCINERATION
Incineration is a disposal method in which solid organic wastes are subjected to combustion so as to convert them into residue and gaseous products. Edison Technologies has been working in this field since 2004.
This method is useful for disposal of both municipal solid waste and solid residue from waste water treatment. Incineration is carried out both on a small scale by individuals and on a large scale by industry. It is used to dispose of solid, liquid and gaseous waste. It is recognized as a practical method of disposing of certain hazardous waste materials such as biological medical waste. Incineration method is common in many countries.
RECYCLING
Recycling is the process where it converts waste into useful products to prevent energy usage and consumption of raw materials. Resource recovery is the process of taking useful discarded items for a specific next use. These discarded items are then processed to extract or recover materials and resources or convert them to energy in the form of useable heat, electricity or fuel.
