At the capital of Uzbekistan from 5 to 6 July 2022 was held the Uzbek-German business forum with the participation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aripov Abdulla Nigmatovich. Leitmotif of the event, which was attended by about 250 delegates, was the development of Uzbek-German economic cooperation in the field of high technologies, industry and logistics.

The President of Edison Technologies Company Edison Kasapoglu also took an active part in this forum.

Opening the plenary session, Aripov A.N. noted that Germany is one of the most important partners of Uzbekistan and highly appreciated the level of trade and economic cooperation and the prospects for bilateral cooperation. In his speech, he emphasized that the strategic initiatives of the country’s leadership since independence have been aimed at qualitative diversification of the economy, technological modernization of basic industries and the development of human capital.

The Prime Minister called on German investors to cooperate and stressed that Uzbekistan is interested in attracting German investments in all significant sectors in order to modernize existing enterprises, as well as create new high-tech industries.

Member of the Board of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy and Speaker of the Country Team for Central Asia Manfred Grundke, as well as Managing Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy Michael Harms acted as speakers at the forum.

In his speech, Manfred Grundke, the Member of the Board of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy and Speaker of the Country Team for Central Asia, emphasized that in the thirtieth year, German-Uzbek economic relations reached a high level: “Uzbekistan is certainly Germany’s most important trading partner in Central Asia. Thanks to their technological solutions and know-how, German companies increase productivity in all sectors of the economy. Together we can and will achieve much more. For us, Uzbekistan is much more than a supplier of raw materials. We are convinced that Uzbekistan can reap the most sustainable benefits from diversified development”.

Managing Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy Michael Harms noted the huge potential of Uzbekistan in all areas of the economy.

On the sidelines of the forum, Edison Technologies Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Memorandum notes that Edison Technologies Company intends to implement an investment project for the design and construction of a medical industrial complex for the production of disposable medical products such as surgical suture material, hemodialysis filters, blood plasma packages, saline solutions, catheters and systems. Based on the memorandum, the company will prepare a feasibility study for the project and, after agreement with the Uzbek side, will implement this project.

Also, within the framework of the last forum, the Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Musayev Behzod Anvarovich and the General Director of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan Kariyev Sardor Hikmatovich held bilateral negotiations with the President of Edison Technologies Company, where they discussed in detail all issues related to the implementation of the investment project.

On the evening of July 5, 2022, on behalf of the government of Uzbekistan, for the German delegation were given a festive concert and dinner.
